WHOLE → EDGE → GROUND → SOURCE
Look closely.
Keep the gap
visible.
Gesso Echo is a continuous palimpsest reveal: eight fictional fragments, ten shifts of scale and illumination for each, and one replaceable question to carry as a Ground Note.
Begin at the whole surface ↓ORIENTATION WITHOUT ATTRIBUTION
Begin farther away than certainty.
The whole view places edge, color, loss, support, and scale in relationship. It does not announce date, maker, provenance, sacred identity, or treatment need.
A specific observation can be honest without becoming a conclusion.
PIGMENT · GROUND · SUPPORT
Describe the layer before naming its history.
Move through raking light, neutral light, carved recess, exposed ground, woven backing, and reflective trace. Each reveal changes what is visible—not what may responsibly be claimed.

CHANGE SCALE · CHANGE LIGHT
Let a second view interrupt the first.
A dramatic macro can become minor in the whole. A smooth overlap can look discontinuous under raking light. Gesso Echo pairs observations so the easier reading is never the only reading.
ABSENCE IS PART OF THE RECORD
Do not paint over missing evidence.
When origin, sequence, ownership, or care responsibility is unknown, the surface leaves room for a source question. The app never fills that space with an invented institutional story.
Which record would make this question answerable?
ONE QUESTION, REPLACEABLE
Carry uncertainty without building an archive.
At any reveal, select one built-in care question as a Ground Note. Choosing another replaces it. No free-text record, object file, diagnosis, or intervention plan is created.
